Spay and Neuter Assistance

SpayAid PEI is providing assistance for residents of PEI who, due to financial limitations, are unable to spay or neuter their pets. This program is made possible through funds raised by volunteers, and donations to SpayAid PEI by our supporters, as well as the generosity of Island Veterinarians. Participating veterinarians are donating 1/3 of the cost of the surgery, SpayAid PEI is contributing approximately 1/3 of the cost, and the remaining 1/3 of the cost is paid by the pet owner.

SpayAid PEI had its first assisted surgeries in July 2007. Since then we have helped over 213 applicants get their companion animals spayed and neutered. We encourage interested applicants.
In order to keep the program running smoothly we have to raise money on an ongoing basis. We encourage interested people who use the program to help us fundraise, since this will not only help you, but help many others in a similar situation who need assistance. We cannot keep this program going without volunteer help. Also, due to the high demand for this program, limited spaces at vet clinics, and limited funds, we will be shortly starting a waiting list for assistance. We will contact all applicants in order of the date of the original requests as soon as we have the space and funds to accommodate their needs. You will be notified by email if you are on a waiting list. Please be sure to include your email on the application form.
